At Heart2Heart First Aid CPR Services, we’re proud to train thousands of learners across Brampton — from families and students to workplace safety teams and healthcare professionals. With the Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR Program Update, our Brampton training centre is now offering a refreshed, more inclusive, and clinically up-to-date experience for everyone who wants to learn how to save a life.
What’s New with the Red Cross Program
This year’s update brings one of the most comprehensive overhauls to Red Cross First Aid & CPR training in more than a decade.
If you’re taking Standard First Aid & CPR C, Emergency First Aid & CPR C, or a CPR/AED course in Brampton, here are some of the updates you’ll encounter in class:
- Pelvic Injury Care – a brand-new skill added to Standard First Aid. Learners will now practice assessing and stabilizing pelvic injuries using padding, bandaging, and circulation checks.
- Choking Response Simplified – old guidance like “bend forward until the airway is parallel to the ground” and “chest thrusts just under the armpits” has been removed. Instructors now teach clear, continuous cycles of five back blows and five abdominal thrusts until the obstruction clears.
- Stroke Awareness Expanded – “Vision problems in one or both eyes” added to the FAST (Face, Arm, Speech, Time) recognition steps. Stroke is now a required skill in Emergency and Standard First Aid.
- Infection Control Updates – new guidance on when to call EMS for infections and improved precautions around masks and pandemic awareness.
- Mental Health Emergencies – updated language replaces “crisis” with “emergency” and introduces the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline, making the content more relevant and supportive for today’s learners.
These updates are designed to make CPR and First Aid training in Brampton more practical, inclusive, and aligned with today’s real-world emergencies.
