Canadian Red Cross First Aid Recertification
- Standard First Aid CPR/AED (Intermediate First Aid) Recertification is designed for participants who currently hold a valid Standard First Aid / Intermediate First Aid certification from an eligible training provider and wish to renew their certification without repeating the full course.
- This recertification course reviews and evaluates a wide range of first aid injuries, illnesses, and life-threatening emergencies.
- Delivered in a convenient 1-day, fully in-class format, participants can renew their certification without completing the full certification course.
- Successful participants receive a Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid CPR/AED (Intermediate First Aid) certification valid for 3 years.
Eligibility Requirements
Please Note:
- Standard First Aid CPR/AED (Intermediate First Aid) Recertification is only available to participants holding a valid Standard First Aid / Intermediate First Aid certification issued within the previous 3 years. Expired certifications are not eligible for recertification and participants must complete the full course again.
- Proof of certification must be provided upon registration.
- As of June 22, 2026, participants may recertify eligible Standard First Aid / Intermediate First Aid certifications from any recognized training provider that meets current WSIB requirements.
- Recertification is permitted once following each full certification. Participants must alternate between a full certification course and a recertification course (Full Course → Recertification → Full Course → Recertification).
- Emergency First Aid (Basic First Aid) certifications are not eligible for recertification and participants must complete the full course again.
- Recertification is not available for courses delivered in Newfoundland and Labrador. Participants in Newfoundland and Labrador must complete the full certification course.

- Two-Rescuer Assisted Breathing (Adult, Child, Infant)
- Two-Rescuer CPR (Adult, Child, Infant)
- Bag Valve Mask (BVM) Ventilation (Adult, Child, Infant)

Participants who do not meet the recertification requirements must complete the full Standard First Aid CPR/AED (Intermediate First Aid) certification course.
