At Heart2Heart First Aid CPR Services, our Markham training centre is proud to deliver the newest Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR Program — a program that’s redefining how people learn to save lives. Whether you’re a healthcare student, parent, teacher, or workplace safety lead, these updates bring smarter, simpler, and more inclusive training to every classroom.
Smarter Learning, Real-World Skills
The 2025 Red Cross program is built on one clear goal — to make First Aid and CPR training more effective, accessible, and hands-on.
In our Markham First Aid & CPR courses, you’ll notice several key updates:
- Burns and Minor Bleeding – now required practical skills, emphasizing quick cooling, infection prevention, and when to seek advanced care.
- Diabetic Emergencies – new focus on recognizing early symptoms and assisting safely; now a required skill in Standard First Aid.
- Mental Health Emergencies – modernized, non-stigmatizing language with new content on Occupational Stress Injury and Self-Care Management, plus the introduction of the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline.
- Infection Prevention – improved training on glove use, masks, and personal protective equipment; now includes pandemic awareness and when to call EMS.
- Naloxone and Medication Assistance – clear differentiation between helping and administering medications, plus hands-on instruction for both intranasal and intramuscular naloxone use in Standard First Aid & CPR C
These updates bring clarity and confidence to learners — especially in Markham, where many participants are healthcare students, educators, and caregivers.
A Focus on Accessibility and Inclusion
The Canadian Red Cross update goes beyond clinical improvements — it’s about creating a training environment that works for everyone.
At Heart2Heart Markham, our courses now include:
- Non-binary and inclusive language throughout all materials.
- Accessible e-learning design with larger fonts, higher contrast, and screen-reader compatibility.
- Diverse representation in illustrations, showing a range of skin tones and body types.
We’re proud to reflect the diversity of the Markham community in every First Aid and CPR course we deliver.
