Responding to a Drowning – CPR Can Bring Life Back

Watching someone drown is heart-wrenching, especially when it’s a child. In our video, we show first responders racing to revive a 12-year-old lying unresponsive by the water. Alternating between chest compressions and rescue breaths, their swift actions keep the child’s heart pumping. Their cycle of 30 compressions followed by two breaths sustains blood flow and ensures oxygen reaches the lungs until breathing resumes.

Once the child breathes on their own, responders place blankets over them to prevent shock and aid recovery. The recovery position is also a key first aid technique, helping clear the airway and letting water exit safely. CPR skills are essential here, and with the right training, you can learn to make a difference in similar emergency situations.
