Standard First Aid CPRAED Level C in Scarborough

If you need Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C in Scarborough, our Intermediate First Aid training gives you comprehensive first aid, CPR, and AED skills for responding to emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. At Heart2Heart First Aid CPR, we provide Canadian Red Cross first aid training for people who need workplace certification, professional qualifications, or practical emergency response skills.

In Ontario, the terminology for workplace first aid changed on June 22, 2026. What was previously called Standard First Aid is now referred to as Intermediate First Aid under the updated WSIB First Aid Program. The program continues to require appropriate workplace first aid training based on the size and circumstances of the workplace.

What Is Intermediate First Aid CPR/AED Level C?

Intermediate First Aid CPR/AED Level C is a comprehensive first aid certification that combines first aid training with CPR and AED skills for adults, children, and infants. The Canadian Red Cross describes Intermediate/Standard First Aid as a two-day course designed for people who require workplace first aid training or want more extensive knowledge to respond to emergencies.

CPR Level C is particularly useful when you need CPR skills that cover more than adults. Level C includes CPR and AED training for adults, children, and babies, as well as choking response for children and babies.

This makes Intermediate First Aid CPR/AED Level C an important option for employees, employers, supervisors, students, childcare workers, community members, and others who may need to respond when an emergency occurs.

What Does Intermediate First Aid CPR/AED Level C Cover?

Our training covers a broad range of first aid and emergency response skills. The Canadian Red Cross Intermediate First Aid curriculum includes topics such as preparing to respond, the EMS system, Check-Call-Care, airway emergencies, breathing and circulation emergencies, cardiac arrest, wound care, head and spinal injuries, bone and joint injuries, sudden medical emergencies, environmental illnesses, and poisoning.

The CPR/AED Level C component expands CPR training to adults, children, and infants. Participants learn how to recognize cardiovascular emergencies, respond to choking, perform CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) as part of the emergency response process.

Because the course combines first aid and CPR/AED training, participants develop a broader set of emergency response skills than they would through a CPR-only course.

Who Needs Intermediate First Aid in Scarborough?

Intermediate First Aid may be required for workplace first aid coverage in Ontario, depending on the number of people working on a shift and the workplace requirements. Under the updated WSIB First Aid Program, workplaces with six or more people working on a shift must have at least one person with an Intermediate First Aid certificate. Workplaces with five or fewer people working on a shift require at least one person with Basic First Aid certification.

If you work in Scarborough, your employer may therefore require you to complete Intermediate First Aid CPR/AED training as part of workplace health and safety requirements.

The course can also be useful if you are pursuing employment, maintaining a professional qualification, meeting an employer’s certification requirement, or simply want more comprehensive first aid skills for emergencies at home or in the community.

Why Choose CPR Level C Instead of CPR Level A?

The main difference is that CPR Level C includes CPR and AED skills for adults, children, and infants, while CPR Level A focuses on adults.

For someone who may work around children or families—or who simply wants broader CPR training—Level C provides additional coverage. When Level C is completed as part of Intermediate First Aid, the certification combines the broader first aid curriculum with CPR/AED training for all three age groups.

The Canadian Red Cross currently lists the Intermediate First Aid CPR C course as a 14-hour in-class program or a blended option involving online learning and classroom training. Successful completion requires participation, demonstration of required skills and critical steps, and a minimum 75% mark on the written knowledge evaluation. Certification is issued for three years.
